Ham
Steaks with Spicy Apple Rings
- 4 ham steaks, about 6 ounces each
- 1-2 tsp wholegrain mustard
- 1 tbsp honey
- 2 tbsp lemon juice
- 1 tbsp sunflower oil
APPLE RINGS:
- 2 green eating apples
- 2 tsp raw sugar
- 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
- 1/4 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp ground allspice
- 1-2 tbsp melted butter
Using a pair of scissors, make a few cuts around the
edges of the ham steaks to prevent them from curling
up as they cook. Spread a little wholegrain mustard
over the steaks.
Mix the honey, lemon juice, and sun flower oil in a
bowl until well combined.
To prepare the apple rings, core the apples and cut
them into thick slices. Mix the sugar with the spices
and press the apple slices in the mixture until well
coated on both sides.
Boil the steaks over hot coals for 3-4 minutes on each
side, basting with the honey and lemon mixture to prevent
the meat from drying out during cooking.
Brush the apple slices with a little melted butter
and broil alongside the meat for about 3-4 minutes,
turning once and brushing with melted butter as they
cook.
Serve with the apple slices as a garnish.
Enjoy!
