The history of the Company began in 1981 when a young entrepreneur, Mark Sikorski came to visit Canada. On one day during his visit he heard the frightening news that the communist government implemented martial law in Poland in order to suppress the rapidly growing "Solidarity" movement. Mark Sikorski decided not to return to his country but to stay in Canada. Although he was successful in finding a job he was thinking of establishing a business of his own. He inherited good entrepreneurial abilities from his father who had owned a private sector business for many years.

Mark Sikorski and his wife established their own business, a sole proprietorship in London, Ontario in 1983. The business enabled him to make first contacts with the meat processing sector.

As many other Canadians of European background, he was missing the unforgettable flavour of original Polish sausages and other processed meat specialties. He began to consider establishment of a meat processing business. Later he was joined by Leszek Roszczyk who used to be a meat processing specialist and sausage maker in Poland, and by Olgierd (Ollie) Bielski and Peter Zuski. A small meat processing business was established and began to develop gradually.

In 1990 the business was incorporated and since then it grew rapidly to become the largest Polish sausage and specialty meat products maker in the London area.

Mark Sikorski has always thoroughly selected candidates for employment, and only those having proper skills and experience were hired. The Company was successful in the development of own products based on traditional recipes thoroughly improved to meet contemporary standards. As the Company grew, Mark Sikorski invested more and more in modern, top of the line machinery and equipment, manufactured by: Treif, Handtmann, Vemag, Friedrich, Fomaco, Inject Star, Spomasz, Lambda, and others.

Apart from business activities, the Company is proud to be a member of the community and actively supports local initiatives.

Years of persistence, hard work and attention to quality brought good results: today Sikorski Sausages Co. Ltd. is regarded in the London area as a leading meat processor specialized in Polish sausages and other Polish and Central European meat products. The Company enjoys excellent relations with its Customers, and has extensive development plans for the years to come.
